LIL: Monochrome Blue Skittle Nail Art

So today is the first time I've ever done two posts on one day.  I'm not a huge fan of that, but I've got two prompts I was interested in doing for today.  This post is for Life In Lacquer's "Monochrome" prompt.

Monochrome doesn't have to mean black and white, it just has to mean one color.  So I picked my favorite, blue!  Since I was only going to be able to do one pattern, I had to make sure I did as many patterns as possible.

Forgive the messiness, this is my right hand!  I'm still trying to get better at painting left handed, and I'm not perfect but I do think I'm getting there!

Lacquer Legion: Fandom - Spidey and Deadpool

Hey guys! Today's post is for the Lacquer Legion's "fandom" prompt.  I was a little lost on what to do, as I'd already covered so many things with this month's CYNA challenge.  I was asking my boyfriend for ideas, and he actually came up with this entire mani, nail by nail!

When you think sassy super hero, it's hard to pick between Spiderman and Deadpool.  They've both got their share of sass, and are both very fun to read about or watch!  You may also know that it's a bit of a thing online that Spidey and Deadpool are BFFs.  So that's what today's mani shows!

I started this mani with a base of OPI My Paprika is Hotter Than Yours and then layered on Sally Hansen Right Said Red to get the red I was going for.  I used my nail art brush for all the details, and used Sally Hansen Pink Coconut, Sally Hansen Sterling Silver, Sinful Colors Snow Me White and Wet 'n' Wild Black Creme.

From thumb to pinkie, we have: Spidey's web, Spiderman, a heart (for BFFs), Deadpool, and Deadpool's swords.

This mani was a lot of fun to do, and even more fun to wear to work.  Do you know how excited little boys get when they see Spiderman on your fingernails?  Really excited.

FFTB: Rainbow Stripe Nails!

Hey guys! Today's mani is one of my favorites that I've done in a while.  Not only is it rainbow (we all know how I feel about that) but I don't think my line work turned out too bad for freehanding straight lines!

First, we have them shown all on their own in their rainbow splendor.  I started this mani with a base of Sinful Colors Snow Me White.  I only used one coat because I knew I'd be covering the entire thing.

Then I started making lines at my cuticle, doing all my nails at once (which was weird for me, my nails are usually some form of skittle/skittlette.)  The colors I used (in order from cuticle to free edge) are: Wet 'n' Wild I Red a Good Book, Sally Hansen Taheati, Sally Hansen Lemon Shark, Nina Ultra Pro Lime Light, Sinful Colors Endless Blue, LA Colors Tropical Breeze, and Sally Hansen Pink Coconut.

I then added some black lines in between colors to try to differentiate them a little bit more.

I liked this look too, but wish I'd been able to get better lines.  I used Wet 'n' Wild Black Creme for my lines.

I think I might have liked them better with the black if the lines had been better.  As of now, I'm not sure which way I prefer this nail art!

What do you think? Black lines or no?

NCC: Childhood Drawings

Hey guys! Today is my final post for this month's prompt of the Nail Challenge Collaborative!  Today I'm redoing a manicure that was inspired by the things I used to draw as a kid.  Except the goose on my ring finger, that's inspired by my boyfriend's nickname!

And here is my recreation!

This time, I definitely like the recreation better!  My lines are cleaner, my colors make more sense, and my goose actually looks like a bird.

I know that the base for this is Sally Hansen Blue Away and the grass is done in a Milani nail art striper brush I got ages ago and is almost unusable.  If you'd like to know any other colors I can figure them out!

Thanks for stopping by and I hoped you liked the manicure!

LIL: Floral Nail Art

Hey guys! Today I'm here with another post for the Life In Lacquer challenge! These weren't actually done for this challenge, they've just been sitting in the vault for forever and I don't know why. Usually only out of season manis/manis I hate are in there.

I don't remember all the details about what polishes I used here, but if you're curious I can look through the stash and try to figure it out.

These kind of remind me of the flower/clouds from Spongebob!

Also, sorry for the short post, but we're doing some (late) spring cleaning and I'm pooped!!

NCC: Watermelon Nails!

Hey guys!  Today I'm back with another post for the Nail Challenge Collaborative!  Today I'm recreating a watermelon manicure I did way back when... and I like the old version better this time!

I tried to make these more realistic with sponging to make it look textured, and mixing colors, and highlighting... and I like my cartoony neon pink version better. Go figure.

Obviously my line work leaves something to be desired in the old one, so maybe I'll have to do these again some time and not try so hard.

Which do you like better?

Blue Teardrop Print Nail Art

Hey guys! Today's post manages once again to be for two challenges! "Blue" for Life in Lacquer, and "Fabric/Cloth" for FingerFood's Theme Buffet. I was inspired by a blue skirt I own that I love to death!

The skirt is covered by beautiful tear drops and is super swishy!  The base of this manicure is China Glaze Wait n Sea and the teardrops are done with a multitude of blue polishes... if you want names feel free to comment!

I kind of love this manicure! It's fun and blue is my favorite color!

Be sure to check out the other manis from both prompts!

NCC: Blue Glittery Leopard Print

Hey guys! So after this giant delay, you probably thought I'd dropped out of the NCC all together, huh?  I know that's what it seemed like, but I'm back with another recreation mani! This time I recreated a glittery leopard print manicure which was also the first time I'd ever used an accent nail!

Yes, this manicure is so old I was still using "Scamp's Nail Art."  But let's not talk about that.  The lines here are pretty messy, but cuticle clean up isn't bad!  Anyway, here's my recreation!

I don't know if my black and silver are the exact same ones they were two years ago, but I know for a fact my blue glitter is!

Both manis feature Sally Hansen Gem Crush Blingtastic as an accent finger and as the inside of my leopard spots.

I do like this version better than the old one, but I don't think the old one was actually that terrible this time!

Be sure to check out the other ladies' day two posts, which have probably been up for weeks now. Whoops!

Geometric Skittles

Hey guys! Today's post gets to count for two challenges, how cool is that?  The prompt from FingerFood Theme Buffet is "skittle" and the prompt for Life in Lacquer is "geometric" so I was able to make this mani do double duty!

They also kind of looks like animal prints, which is fun!

These were all done freehanded with a tiny brush, though I probably should have used striping tape for some of them.

LIL: Dots!

Hey guys! Today's challenge prompt is "dots" from the Life in Lacquer challenge.  I know alllll I've been doing lately is challenge manis, but I want to really take advantage of being able to participate in these things while I can before I get back to school!

I tried to make these fun and summery, but I'm not so sure I'm in love with my color choices.  I've also never done dots this way, so that was new!

My base here is Sally Hansen Blue-Away and the dots are done with Sinful Colors Dream-On, Nina Pro Ladies Who Lunch, Sally Hansen Sunkissed, Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow and Wet 'n' Wild Red Red.

Hope you enjoyed the mani!

CYNA: Cartoon Characters: Adventure Time Princesses

Hey guys! Today is the last day of the CYNA "Embrace your Geekiness" Challenge!  Today's prompt is "Cartoon Characters" and what else would I do but Adventure Time?

I decided to go with four princesses on my fingers, and the Ice King on my thumb since he's always trying to get a princess!  The ice king is definitely the most complicated nail here, and I had to redo him cause I smudged my first attempt! I almost screamed it was so frustrating, he took like four times as long as any of the other nails.

And then I smeared him a little with top coat.... but lets ignore that!  From index to pinkie, we have Marceline the Vampire Queen, Princess Bubblegum of the Candy Kingdom, Fire Princess of the Flame Kingdom, and Lumpy Space Princess of Lumpy Space.

I know a lot of people who do Adventure Time nail art will include Finn, Jake, and BMO instead of the princesses, but my boyfriend bought me an adorable cup with all the princesses on it, and I had to match it!

And here's a bonus shot with the cup :)

Be sure to check out the other ladies' manicures!

CYNA: Superheroes: The Avengers

This is really gonna have minimal words because I'm sneaking it in JUST in time.  I was really busy with work today and forgot to post this until now!

Today's prompt was "Superheroes" so I did the logos for the Avengers.  They're on my right hand, so they're a little messy and I'd like to redo them sometime on my left.

From index to pinkie we have Captain America, The Hulk, Iron Man, and Thor. My thumb has Hawkeye and Black Widow.

These were a lot of fun to do and to wear, but I definitely have to redo them on my left hand!

CYNA: Video Games: Tetris Nail Art

Hey guys!  Today is the second day of the "Embrace Your Geekiness" CYNA challenge!  Today, I'm also starting on my six hour drive home from "Almost-Canada" after 4 more hours of henna/face painting, so this is another quick post.

Today's prompt is "Video Games."  I wanted to do Super Mario nails, but I've been very tight on time lately, so I decided to do something a little more simple.

And so, Tetris nails were born! On my nails at least, I am not the first person to have done these haha.  I looked up what pieces were what online so my shapes matched my colors, and tessellated the pieces so it's as realistic as I could make it.

My shapes aren't perfect, I tried to draw a grid on my nails to help with it, but I was tired, and gave up when it didn't work.   I'll probably redo these at some point when I have more time.

I also may or may not have been listening to this while painting these.  How could I resist?

CYNA: Fandoms-Doctor Who Nail Art

Hey guys! Today is pretty exciting as it's the first day of the "Embrace Your Geekiness" challenge from CYNA!  My posts for this challenge will be short and sweet, I'm working 6 hours away by the border of Canada at a county fair, and after 6 hours of driving and 4 hours of henna/face painting, I'm beat!

Today's prompt is "Fandoms" so of course, I went with Doctor Who.  However, from what I've seen, I'm not the only one who thought this was the perfect interpretation of the prompt!

My index finger has a Dalek, my middle finger is of course, the TARDIS, my ring finger is a Cyberman, and my pinkie is a galaxy.  On my thumb, I have the DW logo.

It's not the easiest to tell in these photos, but the light on the Dalek is a gem, so it's 3D.  I don't usually do 3D nail art, but I was only wearing this one for photos sadly.  I waited too long to prepare these manis!

So, what would you guys have done for a "Fandoms" mani?  It seems a lot of people would choose Doctor Who.

Make sure to check out the other ladies' manis!

4th of July Patriotic Nail Art

Happy 4th of July everyone!  Today's post is not just a celebration of Captain America's birthday, it's a post for the Nail Challenge Collaborative!

The prompt for this month's challenge is "Recreate your first four manis."  My first ever posted manicure was one I did two years ago on the 4th of July, and I'm glad to say I've improved 12 fold!

This is my recreation, which you can tell because it's cleaned up, not atrocious, and water marked.

And yes, I know my flag has too many stripes and not enough stars, but you do what you can do with striping tape and dotting tools.

Down below (brace yourself!) is the original of this design.

Yikes! At least I've gotten better, though I'm not sure I could have gotten worse.

On my right hand, I wanted to do something simple since I still had to prepare my dish to bring to the 4th.  (However, while driving my boyfriend to work, my mom got a flat tire, and we didn't go after all. Oh well.)

I can never make my right index finger do what I want it to do!

Oh, and I've been avoiding posting my toes on this blog for a number of reasons.  Being kinda creeped out by the idea of someone with a foot fetish finding it, hating how my feet look, not knowing how to photograph them... but I thought back to when I started doing nail art and wanted to do something on my toes but had no ideas, and how hard it was to find pictures of toes with nail art on them.  So I've decided to suck it up, and show the tootsies.

There's some imperfections on my big toe, as bending over for that long gets tiring.  But overall I think these are cute and festive!

Thanks for reading!
