NCC: Farm Animals Nail Art

Hey all!  Today I'm posting another manicure for the Nail Challenge Collaborative's "Animals" theme!  This time around I decided to do "Farm Animals" and I even have a little step by step tutorial type thing.

I loved these!  They were adorable and a ton of fun to wear.  Let's get on to the steps!

Almost all of my manis start with me blocking out the shapes of whatever I'll be painting in white.  Here I've used Sally Hansen "White On."

My next step is to add in some of the colors that don't overlap.  This is why some of the designs have only one color added, and some have more than one.  In this case, I filled in the pink on the pig, cow, and bunny, the brown on the cow and chicken, and gray on the sheep.  I also added two blue dots on the bunny for eyes.

My next step is to add in more color.  Here I've added white dots for eyes on the sheep and chicken, black dots for eyes and nose holes on the pig and cow (just eyes on the bunny) and red on the chicken.  You may also notice I've added a beak and waddle in white onto my chicken to go over later with color.

Here you can see the color added to the beak and waddle on the chicken.

The next step is to add detail in black using a detailing brush, and white highlights to the eyes!  As you can see, this manicure looked difficult, but can be broken down into steps to make things easier.

And here are some close ups of each of the animals so you can see the detail on the finished product!

Make sure to check out the other "animal" manicures by the ladies of the NCC!

NCC: Tiger Stripes!

So I have all the manis done for this month's challenge, now I just need to work on actually posting them! Bad blogger!

Today's mani is a simpler one I wore on my right hand (my hands almost never have the same design on both of them).

I started this mani by painting all my nails black, and then adding a coat of a glitter polish over top of them.  I don't remember the exact names of all of them, but I know my pinkie was an Orly, index was a Finger Paints, and my thumb is a Sally Hansen.  I can tell you that my ring finger is China Glaze "Fairy Dust" and my middle finger is China Glaze "Lighthouse."

I then added some freehand tiger stripes over them in colors I thought would pop well.  Pinkie is Sally Hansen "White On," ring is a Maybelline Color Show silver, middle is a Wet 'n' Wild red, index is Sinful Colors "Endless Blue" (the notorious skunky polish) and the thumb is OPI "Love.Angel.Music.Baby."

Then I just topped them with (several) coats of Out the Door and was good!   Some of them needed more coats than others due to the differences in glitter size.

CYNA: Anti-Valentine's Day (HPB Presents)

Well we did Valentine's Day... so let's do Anti-Valentine's Day for all the people out there who don't exactly love the holiday!  That's the idea behind today's prompt for Challenge Your Nail Art, and I'm kind of loving the manicure I did for it!

Valentine's day is all pinks and reds and whites, lacy and flowery and frilly things, so this mani is the opposite of that.

I put skulls on my thumb, and a "No Love" sign on my index.  I took a spin on those disgusting chalky hearts that are everywhere during this time of year and wrote "LUV SUX" on my middle finger in red (over white so it would show up over the black background).  My ring finger is not the kind of rose you'd want to get on a regular February 14th, as they're black and appear a little dead.  I made a fan brush gradient using red and black on my thumb, which turned out way cooler than I thought it would!

I hope that even if you hate Valentine's Day, you might like this mani!

Happy February 15th ;)

EDIT: I had someone ask how to paint the skulls, and thought that might be something more than one person wants to know, so I made a graphic in MSPaint (so it's a little rough) to show how to do it!

CYNA: Valentine's Day Nail Art (HPB Presents)

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!  Today is my Valentine's Day manicure, which is appropriately pink and festive even though I'll be at work and not out to dinner.

But at least my nails will be sparkly and pretty while I work!

I started these nails with two coats of Sally Hansen "Pink Coconut" and then did a gradient over them with "Pink Coconut" and Finger Paints "Be My Baby."  I only now realized how appropriate the name of the polish is for this mani!

I then used Sally Hansen "White On" and my tiny nail art brush to paint some lacey designs over the top of the gradient.   Some of them turned out better than others.  I particularly love my ring finger!

I hope you guys enjoyed these fancy frilly nails!

CYNA: Love Letters

Well, this is another manicure that I'm not super happy with.  I know I know, it's really not a great start to this challenge.
The prompt for today was "Love Letters," and I figured I'd do an envelope (a la cutepolish) and some script.  I only did the four fingers as I really only had enough ideas for those!

Yeah, I'm not really in love with these either.  But I hope tomorrow's are going to be better (I haven't done them yet because I'm being a procrastinator)

CYNA & NCC: Rainbow Gradient Leopard Print

Hey guys!  I'm really excited about today's post, since it's a manicure I actually liked, which is a nice break from yesterday's mess of a water marble.  The prompt for today is "I Love the Color...." and I thought originally that I'd paint my nails teal.  However, the last teal only design I did I didn't love, so I decided to go with my other favorite color: Rainbow!

I'm also using this post as one of my "Animal" posts for the Nail Challenge Collaborative.  Which explains the sassy leopard print over top of it!

I started this manicure with two coats of Sally Hansen "White On" and then loaded up my makeup sponge with my rainbow.  I don't have the polishes with me at the moment to say what exactly they are, but most of them were Sally Hansen and Wet 'n' Wild.

I blended the gradient together with a coat of China Glaze "Fairy Dust" to make it more cohesive and add some holographic sparkle!

So this second post for CYNA, and first for the NCC is actually a good one!  I hope you guys like it as much as I do! :)

CYNA: Nail Art Technique You Love

Today I'm here with a kind of fail of a manicure.  The prompt for today is "Nail Art Technique You Love," and I always love everyone else's beautiful water marble manicures.  I've never really had a lot of success with them myself, but I figured I'd give it another shot.

Well that was a mistake.  This is kind of a mess, and is definitely not the best thing I've done.  I think the color choice might be what did me in in the end.  I'd done red, yellow, and blue for the last water marble I did, which did kind of work out.

Well, I guess nail art technique you love didn't turn into a manicure I loved.  Oh well.
