NCC: Neon Floral Nails

Hey guys!  I'm here juuuuust in time for (my) last post for the Nail Challenge Collaborative.  I was right in thinking I'd only get three in this month.

These are based on a beautiful floral neon manicure by Kayono of Kayonolan.

None of her pictures showed the thumb in them, so I just improvised there.  That might be why it seems a little out of place with the others.

Although it doesn't show super well here, the base of these is a dark blue and not black.  The colors are also MUCH brighter in person!   But that's the way with neons.

I started these with a dark blue L'Oreal polish ad then drew my designs in white and put the neon colors over them to make them pop more.  They were so much fun to paint!

NCC: Neon Splatter Nails

Hey guys!  Today I've got my second manicure for the Nail Challenge Collaborative's "recreation" theme.  I'm almost certain that I'm only going to be able to get 3 of these in this month since the month ends on Thursday, and I'm not off of school this week until Friday.  As I don't do my nails during the week, that means I've just got what I'm wearing now.

Today's nail art is neon splatter nails inspired by Paulina's Passions,

As you can see, I went a little more color crazy than Paulina, but that's just me ;)
I can't just have 3 colors, even if they look a little better that way.

I did these using the splatter method (where you dip the end of a straw into your polish and blow it onto your nail).
I first protected the skin around my nails with tape, and boy am I glad I did.  This technique is cool but it's a mess!  I also used coffee stirrers instead of drinking straws.  I tried both and definitely found that coffee stirrers worked better.

I hope you like these and how crazy bright they are!

Mehndi Mani!

Hey guys!  Today I'm writing my first post for The Nail Challenge Collaborative's April challenge.  The ladies are celebrating the 3rd anniversary of the group by doing a month of manicures inspired by other members in the group.

Today I'm doing my nail art based on a henna themed manicure by FingerFood.

I mainly took inspiration from this mani instead of trying to recreate it.  I knew I had to do this manicure first, since I got to wear it to a henna gig!  These were a lot of fun to do coming at the task as a henna artist.  Though let me tell you, henna is totally different than nail art, and there's a bit of a learning curve to change one into the other.  I think this might have been because I got my brain into "henna mode" :)

Here's the inspiration photo I used!

And another view of my recreation/inspired manicure!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!  As today is a holiday, I'm just going to let these nails speak for themselves and go relax (and write a paper I have due on Tuesday).  Enjoy!

Autism Awareness Day 2015

Happy Autism Awareness Day everybody!  As someone who has many autistic people in my life, today is important to me, so I did nail art to celebrate!

I made these rainbow instead of the usual four colors for a couple reasons.  1, because rainbow is more fun. And 2, because girls have autism too, and I wanted some "girlier" colors too.

This is a pretty classic mani that I've done basically every year (this year I just did it with smaller pieces.) but it works!
